DSS Medical Unit Recommends Urgent Surgery For Nnamdi Kanu, Says IPOB Leader’s Lawyer

Special Counsel for the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, Mr Aloy Ejimakor, says there is an urgent need for his client to undergo ear surgery.

Ejimakor spoke in a tweet on his official Twitter handle Thursday night, noting that the Medical Unit of the Department of State Services, DSS, made the recommendation to Kanu following his deteriorating health condition.
According to him, one of his colleagues whose name was given as Barr. Mandela Umegborogu was informed of the development when he visited Kanu at the DSS headquarters in Abuja on Thursday.
His words, “Today, my colleague, Barr Mandela Umegborogu visited Onyendu #MNK at the DSS.
“He informs that Onyendu directed me to make it public that the DSS Medical Unit has recommended urgent ear SURGERY for him.
“But what remains is the formal approval of the DSS leadership.”
Kanu's Lead Counsel, Mike Ozekhome, SAN, had earlier told the Supreme Court that Kanu might die in the DSS detention facility, if not urgently granted permission to get medical treatment.
Ozekhome expressed fear over his client’s state of health during the hearing of the IPOB leader’s case, adding that Kanu was sick in DSS custody and required an immediate surgical operation.
Ozekhome asked the apex court to rule in favour of the transfer of Kanu from DSS custody to Kuje Correctional Centre to enable him to begin his treatment.
