Heavy security presence in Katsina as voters troop to polling units

Katsina ------------- Security agents have taken over strategic positions in Katsina, the Katsina State Capital, as voters trooped out to cast their votes in Saturday’s governorship and States Houses of Assembly elections.

The security agents mounted road blocks at strategic positions to enforce law and order, as well as enforce restriction on vehicular movements.

Teams of security agents were also on patrol at the different parts of the metropolis, to prevent security breach, even as the election witnessed early arrival of INEC officials and election materials, contrary to the delays that characterised the February 25 Presidential and National Assembly elections.

At the polling unit 031 Wakilin Gabas in Katsina, accreditation and voting started at about 8:10 a.m., while accreditation and voting started at Abukur primary school polling unit in Rimi Local Government Area, LGA, at about 8:00 a.m.

The situation was similar in almost all the areas visited. In all the places, even as voters conducted themselves in orderly manner, as election went on smoothly.
