Yola --------- The Acting Chief Judge of Adamawa State, Justice Hafsatu Abdulrahman,on

Saturday called for special prayers to enable judges to discharge their responsibilities in the administration of justice.

Abdulrahaman spoke at a civic reception in honour of Justice Maxwell Pukuma at Mijili community in Hong Local Government Area of the state.

Pukuma, who was represented by Justice Kyanson, was recently appointed High Court Jugde by the Judicial Service Commission, JSC.

However, the Chief Judge commended members of the community for the gesture, pointing out that such prayers were key to success, hence the need for people to pray for judges to enable them to deliver sound judgements with all sincerity.

Also, a former Chief Judge of the state, Nathan Musa, in his statement, described the reception as an excellent way to celebrate Pukuma’s successes.

“You are honoured by your community so you should not fail them because this is the first time they are having one of their sons as High Court Judge.

“You are expected to maintain a high standard so that the younger ones can aspire to that position,” he said.

The Chairman of the occasion, Mr Dunama Azura, also congratulated Pukuma and urged members of the community not to put pressure on him, and distract his attention on his primary responsibilities, just as the acting District Head of Gaya community, Alhaji Adamu Suleiman, also congratulated Pukuma and advised him to follow the footsteps of the former chief judge for more successes.

In his response, Pukuma thanked the people and assured them that he would be a good ambassador of the community.
